It’s that time of the year. Canterbury Sports Club is hosting their annual R100K Blackball tournament. The scene is set with South Africa’s finest cuest flying into Cape Town to attend the event.
The Format
The format is a 64 men double life draw. Cueists will have two opportunities to get there hands on the prizes. This if a player survive to the finals with not a single lost then he gest to face himself in the finals and walk away with both first and second price.
The Players
Players will arrive from all provinces and we most likely have the company of some international players as well. Previous tournaments were attended by international players like JJ Fauls, Jack Weelyn and Clinton from the UK. Clinton manage to pocket a first prize at last years 100K tournament over SA’s all favorite Aden Joseph. Aden is still favorite after winning the last 100K tournament at this venue. Other cueist to watch at the event are Jeremia, Wetsi, Zenso, Yulan and also Cape Town’s favorites such as Ryan, Yazeed, Paul, Wayne and Kevin. And yet there are too many to mention who on the day can easily snatch the prize.
The Stakes
To get your share of the 100k prize fund players will need to survive until the quarter finals of any of the two draws. The main prize is 55k and 22K in second with the rest split down to the quarter finals. Canterbury are known for sponsoring gifts and food to their entrants. One thing for sure to be felt is the adrenalin, focus and pressure in the atmosphere when the finest in the sport meets to battle.
